Roles and Responsibilities

Coaches,  Trainers, Coordinator

A coach is a often volunteer, (such as a parent)  who is responsible for the team. They have a significant role in setting standards for the team, leading players, coaching within games, and training sessions. Coaches should work closely with the assigned professional trainers to develop and execute a plan for the team. Ideally, we want two volunteer coaches per team, co-equal or with an Assistant Coach. Volunteer coaches should not be relegated to only handling administrative tasks. Our trainers can help coaches learn the game and lead their team to success.

On the other hand, a trainer is a paid professional assigned to every team  to teach players and volunteer coaches both foundational and advanced game skills and strategy. Ideally, our trainers will help empower players and coaches to succeed by providing objective feedback that benefits specific player development and the team's overall success. Trainers should work closely with coaches to ensure individual player and team objectives are defined and achieved.

The Team Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the team by serving as the central communication hub. Responsibilities include coordinating team logistics, managing volunteers, handling uniform inquiries, and overseeing financial communication to guarantee smooth operations. The role involves fostering team morale, addressing conflicts, and providing crucial support to coaches and trainers. As the primary point of contact for parents, coaches, and the club, the Team Coordinator disseminates timely information, coordinates travel arrangements for away games, and manages volunteer schedules. Additionally, they handle financial matters such as fee payments and reimbursements, ensuring everyone is well-informed. The Coordinator also contributes to team spirit through organizing events and celebrations while actively promoting a positive team environment. The scope of the role extends to organizing player tryouts, facilitating registrations, and providing support to coaches and trainers in various organizational tasks. Overall, the Team Coordinator's efforts are instrumental in contributing to the team's growth and success, with the potential to go beyond the outlined responsibilities based on creativity and initiative.

We believe that coaches, trainers and coordinators are essential to the success of our soccer program. By working together, we can help our young players develop their skills and love for the game.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Amityville Soccer Club!
